"Well you could have.... have... I don't know! practiced at night?" She blurted in a feeble attempt to keep her pride from slipping down further. Determination pulsed through her as the ball ceased movement. Staring at it intently she readied herself once more. Taking a deep breath she swiped it into the air.
Watching tensely she squeaked once in excitement when it BARLEY made it over. Standing up tall she lifted her head proudly. HA! If i keep this up I'm sure to be a great warrior and be able to protect the clan!

Treekit shot up, reaching high with his fore paws trying to catch the moss ball. His eyes pleaded with persistance as he barely dug his claws into it. It escaped his grasp and tumbled to the middle of the clearing. Treekit landed on his side with a thud, and got up to shake the dirt off his pelt. He looked over at Lizardkit. "Want to see who can reach it first- in a race?" he asked, his voice getting louder nearing the end of the question.

She snickered slightly when Treekit missed but quickly stopped. He didn't laugh at her when she failed to get the moss ball to touch the leaf, so what right did she have? Waving her tail happily she mewed, "Nice try!"
Pricking her ears to his request her nose quivered with excitement. "On the count of three, we run." Lining herself up next to Treekit she crouched in a ready position. "One. Two... THREE!" Leaping up she darted forward eagerly.

Treekit leapt foreward eagerly as Lizardkit said three. He kept pace with her for a coule pawsteps, but then started slipping behind her. His ears pricked as he realized she was faster than him. He tried moving his legs faster, but barely stayed at her tail.

Excitement sparked through her tiny body when she realized she was pulling ahead just barley. With the moss ball getting closer with every paw-step Lizardkit gathered up her strength and jumped landing in front of the moss but the momentum from her jump caused her to flip head over heels. Landing with a tiny thump on her back she snatched the moss ball and flicked it into the air. "That sure was fun!" she panted breathlessly.

"It sure was," Treekit said as he sat, towered over her, and caught the moss ball in his fore paws. He flung it into the air. "What do you want to do now?" He was a little dissapointed that he had lost the race, but he didn't have to be the fastest cat in the clan. He was already stronger than Lizardkit, and that was enough. She deserved to be better at something. Treekit caught the moss ball again, and flung it back into the air as he waited for Lizardkit's answer.

Sunstream purred at Nightstars comment.
"Oh I remember that, when I was an full medicine cat, I fell in love with Flurrytail, we snuck out every night at moonhigh and came back right before dawn. Then Finchstar found us and told Dockface. Dockface hit me and made me do regular apprentice duties instead of medicine cat duties! No one found out but everyone staired at me for moons. Boy will I remenber that. Did you have crushes Nightstar?"

Nightstar mrrowed in amusement. "Oh, of course I did~" She smirked. "I don't quite remember my childish apprentice crushes, but I did once find myself mooning over a MistClan cat. They're quite strong, so of course I admired him. Not enough to find myself slipping over the borders at night, mind you." She trilled again. "I'm no where near as daring as you, Miss Sunstream~."
She turned and watched the kits play again. "Keep that up kits, and you'll be as strong as us warriors one day." She addressed in a warm tone, a little purr at the end of her sentence. "Maybe one of you will get me as your mentor! If Wildpaw's training is done by then, that is."

Sunstream laughed.
"You, not as daring as me. Ha, we did so many daring things when we were new warriors, and full med. cat. I remember the day we became friends like it was last dawn. Dockface sent me out to collect tansy and you.... were you hunting or patroling I forget..."
Sunstream looked at the kits laughing at as they played moss ball. She wondered when to tell Nightstar that she had a collection of feathers in a hole under the fresh-kill pile, she could give them to the kits who would live the bright colors.

Watching Treekit flick the ball up and down she thought for a moment. What to do next? How should I know... Flicking an ear she watched him toss the ball in the air again. Nose twitching she crouched down and leaped into the air clawing the ball and sending it flying off behind them. Landing awkwardly she huffed, "We could try doing that. One of us toss the ball into the air and the other try to catch it! It would help something I'm sure!"
Pricking her ears to Nightstar she grew hot under her fur. Having the leader speak towards her always made her feel embarrassed and afraid she might mess something up.

Nightstar trilled. "I do believe I was out hunting, by myself, when I came across you. I remember, it was during the first moon as a warrior. I offered to help you find some herbs." She twitched her whiskers, watching Lizardkit with round yellow eyes. She seemed to have taken some life back into her after speaking with her Clanmates. She sighed happily through her nose, swishing her tail. The usual lively sparkle was back into the young leader's eyes, and she seemed to be no longer plagued by the thoughts that all the cats dear to her had passed away.

Treekit got up and looked at Lizardkit with excited eyes. He had fallen over with surprize when she had jumped at the moss ball like that, but her idea sounded fun! "Let's do that!" Treekit agreed, he flicked his ears with thought, "Just as long as we throw the ball away from us, so that we aren't basicly jumping over eachother. You surprized me when you did that." Treekit's tail flicked as he bounced over to where the moss ball had landed. By now it was starting to look a little torn up, but it still held together. He shrugged. "I'll toss it first," he called to her as he fling the moss ball away from him.

willowcharm saw the kit and grabbed some moss and made a moss ball she limped over to them "hello kits, need a new ball?" willowcharm pushed the new moss ball towards them "oh and when i was a kit I used to stuff moss in a bush rub myself in something that was overpowering (as the smell was unbearable) and jump behind the moss and watch the chaos unfold say the bush over there *tail points towards the small bramble bush and i wink and pad away*

Treekit took the moss ball Willowcharm had given to him and Lizardkit, and pawed at it as Willowcharm continued speaking about how she used to play with moss. He looked up as she flicked her tail toward a bramble bush before winking and walking away. He shivered. She sugusting us to play with a bramble bush. She might have a long time ago, but there's no way I'm playing with brambles again. Not after I got scratched by that thorn. It got in deep, too! I was surprized when I found the wound had healed. She must have been brave to play in brambles. Or maybe her pelt is a lot thicker than it looks... He turned back to Lizardkit with the new moss ball. "You don't have to catch that other one," he called to her, "It's all torn up. We can play with this one instead." He pushed the moss ball foreward.
